Everything a directory or marketplace reviewer needs to sign in and test the NyayAssist connector.

What the connector is#

NyayAssist is a research and drafting platform for advocates practising Indian law. The NyayAssist MCP server is a hosted, remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP, OAuth 2.1 with PKCE) that gives an AI app access to the signed-in user's own NyayAssist account: their matters, documents, drafts, research, translations, due-diligence projects, workflows and meetings, plus the shared Indian Legal Library of judgments and Acts.

  • 44 tools, the same list for every user; see the tools reference.
  • Create, never delete. No tool deletes, overwrites, shares or sends anything, or changes billing or settings.
  • Plan-aware. Tools that create work use the user's NyayAssist plan allowance; reads do not.
  • Tool annotations. Every tool is marked non-destructive; tools that only list or fetch are marked read-only.

How to sign in#

Test with the public server URL and a regular NyayAssist test account:

  1. Add the server URL as a custom connector or remote MCP server in your client. Leave OAuth client ID and secret fields empty; the client registers automatically.
  2. Connect. The client opens the NyayAssist sign-in page.
  3. Sign in with the test account and approve access.
  4. The client lists 44 tools.

Test credentials

Credentials for a regular NyayAssist test account are provided privately with the directory submission. They are never published on this site. If you did not receive them, email support@nyayassist.ai.

An unauthenticated request to the server URL returns 401 Unauthorized with a WWW-Authenticate header that points to the OAuth protected-resource metadata. This is expected.

Test plan#

Run the steps in order in a new conversation with the connector enabled. Steps 1 to 8 only read and use no allowance. Steps 9 and 10 create work and use the test account's allowance, which is sized for review.

Expected
The client asks for confirmation before the call (it creates work). The result is either the answer directly or a job with a suggested wait. The client polls get_job_status until it succeeds, then get_job_result returns an answer that cites Indian judgments and Acts, plus a research handle. get_research with that handle returns the same answer without using more allowance.

What is the status of my last NyayAssist job?

Intentionally not available#

  • No delete, overwrite, share or send. Asking the assistant to delete a matter or share a draft should result in the assistant explaining that no such tool exists.
  • No workflow approvals. approve_workflow_gate accepts only reject and cancel; approve and continue return a message directing the user to the web app.
  • No full texts. Judgments, Acts, meeting transcripts and due-diligence reports return details and summaries only.
  • Features not on a plan stay listed and return a clear message when used.

The single outward-facing action is start_meeting, which sends a visible NyayAssist notetaker into a Google Meet or Microsoft Teams call that the user names. It is not part of the test plan.

Data handling#

  • The connector acts only as the signed-in user, with OAuth scopes the user approves, and sees only that user's data plus the shared Legal Library.
  • Tokens are issued for the NyayAssist MCP server only. The server exchanges them on its side; the client never receives NyayAssist backend credentials.
  • Results are shaped to a fixed set of fields. Internal identifiers are replaced with opaque handles that work only for the account that received them.
  • Text from judgments, Acts and user documents is returned inside <untrusted_document> tags with an instruction to treat it as data.
  • Work created through the connector is stored in the user's NyayAssist account under the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
